Notes: A number of industrial processes will operate in
these areas and it is not possible, from the results of this survey, to
determine the relative contributions of any of the above sites to the levels of
dioxins and PCBs found in the milk from the farms sampled.
* - British Steel Engineering Steels, which is some
distance from the farm concerned, is identified because it was used as the
centre for the sampling area and is the major steel works in the area.
** - The ranges for combined dioxins and PCBs are not
equal to the sum of the ranges for dioxins and PCBs individually because the
highest values were not always found in the same samples; they were calculated
before rounding.
